Abstract: This study examines innovative apprenticeship models implemented across various industries in Nigeria. Apprenticeships are critical pathways for skill development and workforce preparation, yet traditional models may not fully align with evolving industry needs. The research aims to (1) identify emerging apprenticeship models being adopted, (2) assess their effectiveness in skills acquisition and employment outcomes, and (3) explore challenges and best practices in implementing these models. A survey research design is justified to gather insights from apprentices, employers, and training providers across different sectors. A sample size of 400 participants will be selected through purposive sampling to ensure representation from manufacturing, IT, and construction sectors in Rivers State. Case studies will highlight successful implementations and contextual factors influencing outcomes. Findings revealed that innovative apprenticeship models, such as competency-based frameworks and digital platforms, enhance skill relevance and employability. Recommendations include promoting industry collaboration in program design, integrating digital tools for learning and assessment, and standardizing quality assurance mechanisms to ensure consistency and effectiveness across apprenticeship programs.
